ALEX SCHUTZ mauImaiI@yahoo.com The March 10. riots that happened in Lhasa, the capitol of the Tibet, are trying to be attributed to the Dalai Lama, whom China is saying is in cahoots with Muslim terrorists. The riots killed 22 people; included in that total were a baby boy that was burned to death in a garage and a paramilitary officer. China's government is blaming the riots and uprisings on a small minority of Tibetians, and that the violence in no way reflects the entire region's feelings of its rule. The Chinese government claims that it is being undermined and disestablished before the Olympic games can be held there. The Communist leaders of China have gone on to say that the Dalai Lama planned allacks with "the aid of violent Uighur ~eparatist groups seeking an independent East Turkestan for their largely Muslim people in the northwestern Xinjiang region of China." There are also claims that he is "scheming to take the Beijing Olympics hostage [0 force the Chinese Government to make concessions to Tibetan independence." The Dalai Lama refutes these accusations and says there is no basis for them. He has said "1 always support the Olympics should ...take place in Beijing ... so that more than one billion human beings. that means. Chinese, they feel proud of it." The Ranger News we are, we made it work. It's hard to believe there are only 6 more issues left in this semester, iocluding this one. This semester has flown by, and it's amazing to see how much has changed here in so little time. I feel like I've learned so much in just a few weeks, and I know in the next two years I will only learn more. I think the staff has learned a lot this semester, as well, though I obviously can't tell yoo what they've learned. On page 4 of this issue, you'll find a budget breakdown for Parkside. This was given 'to us by PSGA, and I had to cut it down to just the past few years of breakdowns. The original document was much larger, however, we just didn't have space for everything. I'm saying TO DO April 8. 2008 \ I -, I sure we get some diversity in the paper, and to make SUre Ihe reporters are writing a story that interests them-it seems to work out best that way.
