"The Chancellor can do anything she wants to," Murin said. "[This] whole thing might be totally irrelevant." If enrollment decreases for next semester, all the meetings, open forums, and sleepless nights might be for nothing, because Chancellor Eleanor J. Smith may have no other choice but to have student-athletes who received scholarships pay segregated fees. Ideas are still being tossed. Scholarship money announced The University of Wisconsin- Parkside will have more than $134,000 available for scholarships in 1995-96, an increase of eight percent from 1994-95 and the eighth straight year of increased funding. Scholarship funding from the UW- Parkside Benevolent Foundation is $112,368, a 6.6 percent increase over last year. Funding from the University is $22,000. Judy Weber's "Bilingualism in a Memoir of a Bilingual Childhood" examines Richard Rodriguez's reflections on education in his "Hunger of Memory." This week's volunteer is Susan Boscher. Susan Boscher is a senior majoring in Psychology graduating in May with plans on working in Human Services. Susan became active in the Parkside Volunteer Program when she enrolled in September as a 2nd grade tutor at Bain Elementary School in Kenosha and later became a fast volunteer (Families & Schools Together) through the Alcohol & Other Drug Council of Kenosha. Sue thinks she has learned a lot by working in the FAST program. She stated, '" have seen how parents and chi Idren relate to Susan Boscher each other and how society has a huge impact on children. They can be influenced so easily. If parents can spend fifteen minutes a day with each child, communication and behavior can improve."
