The Tournament took place in Orlando, Florida over this past Holiday weekend. Twenty-eight Pat White players from across the country were invited to the tournament weekend. The United States team played against teams from Brazil, see Athlete of the week, p10 Students present award to Parkside Police Officer by Karen Diehl News Editor "Marlene has done a marvelous job at keeping this campus safe for everybody," said Student Senator Bruce Rocco, referring to the University ofWisconsin-Parks ide Police Officer,Marlene Schlecht. Schlecht received an award on Nov 17from the Parkside student body for her outstanding job as a law enforcement officer. OfficerSchlecht has been on the policeforce at Parkside for 12years. She has helped organize the Safewalk program, actively trained women in sexual assault prevention and this year will help educate the UW-Parkside community about pepper spray. In the past, Schlecht has also worked with the Kenosha County Sheriff Department in regards to a rape which occurred on WoodRoad in Spring, 1993. Marlene has represented Wisconsin at an international Crime Prevention Practitioners Association conference. "She's not only involved on a campus level, she's very active in the community as well, « said Rocco. Senator Roccowrote the resolution that requested the award for OfficerSchlecht. He then proposed the resolution to the senate where it was passed by a unanimous vote. The money for the award was allocated from the student government budget.
