For those of you who don't know what P.S.G.A. Is, It Is the sole representative of the students of Parkslde to the administration here on campus and the UW System in shared governance mat- ters. Basically what all that means is that we are respon- sible for safe guarding stu- dents' rights. The organization plans on hitting the ground running this semester. A few of the projects we will be looking into this semester are the campus book exchange, a stu- dent safety patrol, corporate sponsorship, and staffing of University and Faculty com- mlttees. Right now we have five committees that need student representation, and Affirma· tlve Action needs two stu- dents, This committee deals with the Implementation of affirmative action policies. Parking Appeals also needs two students. This committee primarily reviews appeals on parking fines. Computer in- formation and Technology Committee needs one student, The basic role of this commit- tee Is to advise the Chancellor on computer needs of the campus. Minority Affairs Ad- visory Committee needs two stuaents. The committee ad- vises the Chancellor on the needs of minority students In higher education. The Sexual Harassment Committee needs one student. This committee Is an investigative committee for people who feel they may be experiencing some form of sexual harassment. A large part of the ac· tion in Hodgson'S act comes from the props that he bas made and designed himself. Hodgson boasts, "I have the world's only Braille bumper sticker, electric bag· pipes. and a prop that cranks my head around in 360 de· grees." With his head on straight: Hodgson was able to come up with a story line that bas landed him the lead role in his new HBO Comedy Chan· nel program. HBO purchased from Hodgson his comedy shoW idea that wlll be going on the air this fall. The name of the program is "Mystery Science Theater 3000''. Joel Hodgson comes from a small town In Wisconsin called Fort Alklnson which Is near Madison. He was raised in Green Bay and went to col· lege in Minnesota. Minnesota Is where 'Hodgson got his start in comedy. He landed his first comedy job whlle he was a junior In college at the age of 21 at the Comedy cabaret in Minneap· olis. Through Hodgson's first dip Into the limelight only lasted five minutes. the owner liked him and suggest. ed that he return. This was the beginnlng to bigger and better things. Since his first five minute glimpse at star- dom. Hodgson has performed at such clubs as The Improv in Los Angeles. Hodgson does not directly credit anyone performer with giving him the Itch to join In, however he did in- clude Jonathon Winters George Carlin. and Andy Kaufman in the list of stars that mostly affected him when he was younger._ "1 always performed," said Hodgson. "I did magic tricks and juggling acts. 1 had always been Interested In It (comedy)."
