Beverlee Anderson, Dean of Business and Administrative Sciences, said the new micro- computers will be primarlly used for business classes. It will be open to other sutdents when classes are not in ses- sion. She said it is part of a three-phase computerization plan for the Business Divi- sion. According to Phll Charest, Director of the Computing Center, equipment from Moli- naro 117 will be merged into other terminal rooms and 12 microcomputers will be in- stalled. Requisitions have been made for the equipment for the room, which includes a Novelle Networking Sys- tem, an IBM PS/2 SO llle driver, and zenith mtcorcom- puters. He said the Oomput- mg center would run the fa- cilities once they are set up. Vankat Subramanian, an Assistant professor of Man- agement Information Sys- tems, has served as Ander- son's assistant for the proj- ect. Anderson said the micro- computers will be ready for use in a few month, "assum- ing we don't come into a major snag." She explained that all the terminals will be networked via a Local A rea Network (LAN) with an IBM PS/2 SO, and will also be able to access the IBM mainframe on campus. Residence halls rules state that students are not allowed to possess weap- ons. Ostrowski explained that the definition of "weapon" on campus is a broad one. "It in- cludes fireworks, all firearms and things whtch are illegal under state law, such as switchblades," he said. •'Each case needs to be looked at and evaluated, de- pending on the weapon and its use," Ostrowski said. He provided the example of a baseball bat.
