Nobody' asked me, but
Condom dispensers are a great idea
by George
Koenig
Let's face It, sex lan't any-
thing
out of the ordinary In
college life. Students
are nav-
Ing sex.
It
may not
be
con·
doned, but It's
laking
place.
It's
taldng
place whether the
proper protection
Is
avallable
or not. The questions here
are:
Is
the proper protectton
readily avallable? Does the
schoot have a direct responsI·
bWty to
make
condoms
avall·
able?
And,
should ParkBlde
adopt a program to distribute
condoma more discreeUy?
A
contraception program
was
developed here In the fall
aemeater of last year at
the
Student Health Services of·
flee. They distribute ten
"Prime" condoms for one
dollar
along with other forms
of contraception at reason.
able prices.

Health Services, said she
wishes more students would
reallu that the program
Is
there, but she realizes that
most people
are
too
embar.
rassed to
ask
for such
things
as condoms.
This
Is true; not
many people want to go Into
an office which seems so for-
mal
and
ask
for a contracep-
tive. We can't take the stu-
dents' so-called. •
'good
sense
of responsibility" for granted.
We need
to
make condoms
more readlly avaUable.
After a random survey
taken by Parkside freshman,
I
learned that
96
percent of
them feel It
is
necessary to
set up condom dispensers,
and out of lhoae
96
percent,
over
half
would
like
to
see
them Installed
in
the men's
and women's bathrooms. This
would make condoms more
accessable, and you wouldn't
have to feel "stupId" bUying
them.
Other universIties
