Theposition, presently held on an interim basis by MaureenBudowle, was creat- ed last term under the univer- sity's reorganization plan. "We feel that at this time !-t Parkside we should bring m someone new with some years of experience tn enroll- mentmanagement " said Ad- rian Serrano, Ps'GA presi- dent. "After all, enrollment management Is now probably the major agenda item of this school." Assistant Chancellor for Student Affairs G. Kenosha county residents and their property in case of a nuclear disaster at the Zion Illinois nuclear power plant will be the topic of discussion at a Kenosha County Board' Health and Human Services Committee meeting tonight. Edwin M. Anderson, 5th District supervisor and vice chairman of the Policy and Rules Committee is the author. of Resolution 39. Acording to Anderson, the resolution was prompted be- cause of: 1) a 1982 Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) report that warned that Zion's Unit I reactor walls are brittle and 2) that effective evacuation is not workable 'due to the dense. population of Kenosha. The most controversial ac- tion requested tn the resolu- tion is the distribution of po- tasslum iodide (KI) tablets to all persons in Kenosha Coun- ty In the case of a meltdown in which radioactive gases are released, "the KI tablets, if taken just before or imme- diately after exposure ... satur-" ates the thyroid gland and serves as a blocking agent, according to the Tennessee Department of Health and Environment,' fJ cited Ander- son. Doran Hughes, director of the Kenosha Emergency Gov- ernment opposes the distribu- tion of the KI tablets. "Panic could result," said Hughes, "If the tablets all distribut- ed."
